On a rainy November night Mario Toon was born into this world in a small hospital in Singapore. However as he was growing up his traditional Asian parents told him that he, along with his twin brother, were found and picked up from a dumpster near the house. Even though he was told to get good at math and science, he found himself interested in a number of things, including art and computer games, among others. Mario decided to pursue a career in video games, pursuing a diploma in Digital Media Design, specializing in Games Design and Development at Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore.
Upon graduating with his diploma Mario served mandatory military service in the Singapore Armed Forces for 2 years, with the majority of his service spent with the SAF Bands. After completing his service he took time to evaluate his options and decided to further his studies, this time focusing on making art for video games. Unfortunately his plans were delayed, so he jumped head first into the Singapore games industry, working as a game tester, then a contract artist at Mikoishi.
Mario left Singapore in 2008 for Seattle, WA to attend Digipen Institute of Technology. He graduated with a BFA in Production Animation and worked at Z2Live (now known as Z2, a King studio) as a 3d Artist.
After his endeavors in the States , Mario returned to Singapore in 2013 and plies his trade at Nonstop Games (also a King studio), this time focusing on art pipelines, research & development and art management. Mario’s goal is to bring fun and enjoyable experiences and spread joy through games.
